Exercise improves your health and strengthens your self-esteem. In addition, you feel more balanced and active. Group activities encourage people skills, team building and stamina. In short: Sports increase the quality of life no matter how old you are.
In order to provide a wide range of activities for people with learning disabilities, Lebenshilfe NRW established a department of sports.
It offers the following kinds of sports:
Lebenshilfe NRW’s department of sports also aims to extend its range of popular sports. For this purpose sports enthusiasts will be able to use a new sports centre in Frechen in the middle of 2010.
Disabled and non-disabled children, teenagers and adults can choose from a whole range of attractive offers in the fields of rehabilitation, popular and competitive sports. The sports centre will be equipped with an indoor swimming pool, sports/football fields, gymnasium, tennis courts, volleyball and basketball fields and two indoor riding rings. Gymnastics as well as football and riding can be provided.
Tourists and conference attendants can make use of our modern equipped conference rooms, common rooms and 6 bedrooms in the brand new 3-star-house.
Additionally there will be a football training centre where talented sportsmen/women with learning disabilities are adequately supported and assisted.
A team of football coaches train the sportsmen/women several times per week and at the weekend they play for different football clubs in the district or county. Applications are always welcome.
